Hello there 👋 I built sparker because the website for "learning to code" that I wish existed... doesn't exist. So, I'm building it :). If you want to chat or get announcements when I make updates you can join my discord server https://discord.gg/QhqTE4t2tR
One of my favorite game genres growing up was Sandbox and Vehicle Builder games. I got into coding because of Games like Minecraft, and SimplePlanes, and Trailblazers... and yet, good resources on making those types of games simply didn't exist. So, I made sparker, a website dedicated to helping anyone (even if you've never written a single line of code before) to make games like these!
I also realize that everyone has their own dream games they would like to make! Because of this I want to have a "voting" page where anyone can vote for courses they would like to see made. Obviously everything related to sparker.gg is still in the works, but if you're looking for "How to Make Minecraft in Unity" then check out my other website https://sparker3d.com/ where I have lots of tutorials on voxels and minecraft remakes!
After half a decade of trying to learn coding online I realized there was not a single website that could help me learn to code and make my dream game. It took me 2 years of scouring the internet to get to the point of actually learning the basics of coding, and then another 4 years until I could make a game that was fun, then finally another 2 years to learn the advanced topics needed to actually make the game I dreamed of... and I'm still learning!
That struggle made me realize there was probably others like me who had this same problem. After realizing this I came up with the idea for Sparker.gg, a place where anyone, even if they had never never written a single line of code before, could learn to love coding (through beginner friendly tutorials) and then immediately transition to making actual games.
To accomplish the first step of beginner friendly tutorials I built Codecasts. Codecasts allow anyone to take their first steps in coding in a realtime coding environment making interactive and visually compelling projects that are fun to show off to others. Codecast's are a revolutionary idea that only a two other companies in the world have adopted (those campanies being Scrimba.com and KhanAcademy.org).
